It may be just me, but when I am searching for
menus & entertaining timelines, I can never find anything that is perfectly
‘right.’ Some menus are outdated, others include too many recipes with
‘twists’ & still others are too ‘convenient’ or simplified; I always end up
spending quite a bit of time sourcing recipes & other
elements in developing a perfectly balanced plan. My outlook is
that, when we entertain, we do so to please & impress our guests; we want
to put effort into making a beautiful meal & ensuring that everything
is perfect (or, at least as perfect as possible). A great irony of
the internet is, with so many different sources available with a single click,
it has become incredibly confusing to know where to begin in planning your
event. Thus, I will endeavor to reintroduce traditional
entertaining principles & the balanced menus that I have developed to the
modern hostess.
Though this is a work in progress, the current
plan is for each month to feature a comprehensive plan for a brunch, cocktail
party & dinner party as well as a holiday or special celebration.
Each plan will consist of the following:
Sunday:
Introduction to the event & ideas for invitations
Monday: Layout of menu &
timeline for completion
Tuesday: Décor (flowers!)
Wednesday: Presentation
Thursday: Hostess wardrobe &
tips
Friday: Music & other
special touches
Saturday: Bringing it all together
Of course, things are bound to change. Stay tuned & please do make
suggestions!
